No Knife No Fun on Instagram

Hello fellow knife friends,

As you can i see i stopped posting on the blog.
I will let it active but won't post much.
Still No Knife No Fun lives on but on another platform.
At the time i started this Instagram didn't exist but now that it does i believe it was made for me.
I love it and my Instagram page is starting to have a following.

My "lucky" Skyline

Hello guys,

Long time no see!
Today i have to talk to you about the most special i own, the Kershaw Skyline.
This is the model 1760S30VCF wich features CF handles and an s30v blade.

I've had it for 2 years or so and i like everything about it. The weight, materials action and everything else but none of that is what makes it special for me.
This is a knife that brings me luck when on the job.
I shit you not.
My job is a bit taxing on the mind and body so the knife is a tool for me.
However, everytime i carry the Skyline everything goes smooth. Not a problem in the world it seems.
Still, this is not my favourite knife so sometimes i store it so i can carry others.
Big mistake.
Wether is a flat tire, something i forgot doing, problems with co-workers, there is always something that makes my day rougher.
Specially when i carry the small Insingo, now that's when the shit really hits the fan.
With the Skyline, people help me out, i receive good news, man... it's unbelievable.
So, the last few weeks i've been on a cheapo kick carrying my Sanrenmus 7010.
Lovely knife, wich i may talk about at some point, and the work kept piling up.
Things weren't going my way at all and i was exhausted.
One day i got home tired as shit.
I was thinking about my day wondering what the hell was going on and then it struck me. I realised i haven't been carrying it for months.
Two days ago i picked it up and went to work...dude, night and day! Night and day.
Way less to do, things going smooth, no hassles at all!
By this point you might think I'm crazy, wich i probably am, but it's undeniable.
Everytime i carry my "lucky" Skyline to work things really couldn't be better. It's amazing!

Cold Steel - a new and an oldie

Hello guys,

If you've been following my blog you already seen posts regarding Cold Steel knives.
I've had many expensive knives but cheaper, good quality knives are always welcome.
I like a good beater knife but if you can add cheap to strong as shit then i'm sold.
That's the case of Cold Steel.
The blade steel, for now, isn't the best but i've come to realize that it's enough for me.
AUS8 doesn't hold it's edge forever but you can sharpen it pretty easily so it's fine.
Now, what really draws me to CS, the very first thing i think about when the brand comes to my mind is the Triad-Lock. That's the strong as shit aspect i refered to previously :)
Even though it's a backlock, it functions very good and the blade folds freely when you press it.
What i mean by that is, unlike other backlocks that have a very rigid action you don't need two hands to close the knife, wich is a big plus in my book.

That's the case of my new Mini Recon Spear Point:

I had the Mini Lawman but it ended up being too...mini.

This one's better for me.

Same materials but a bit bigger with the prefered size of a 3" blade for EDC.

Now, of course it came with the black coating CS has accustomed us to so i immediately stripped it off.

It's so much nicer without it. It even comes stonewashed!

Ths knife's been edc'ed and used a bunch.

Really grippy, nice feel in the hand, smooth action and very stong lockup.

So, what else is new, right?

That leads to the other new knife i'm going to talk about.

Well, not new but rather an oldie.

A first generation, CS American Lawman.

You must be thinking: "Great a knife i've seen here before and on a few other places a bunch of times".

Well, this is not an American Lawman like the one i had before.

Materials are the same of course but it has a few differences i like better.

First, it has steel liners.

The G-10 version is lighter wich is a feature i like but this one feels better in the hand with the extra weight for some reason.

This makes the knife even more solid and you can customise it by making some new scales.

The blade has jimping, a very subtle stonewashing and came polished from the previous owner.

Now, the big difference for me is the ergonomy of the handle.

I sold the G-10 version because it had a more broader handle wich for me wasn't very comfortable.

I have medium/small hands so when gripping it i couldn't really wrap my fingers around it.

So, to sum it up, Cold Steel releases some really good products and i'm a fan.

Granted i don't like all Ninja like knives they come out with but i've always been impressed with the overall quality of the ones i bought.

If you're looking for something tough for EDC, camping or whatever, Cold Steel is a brand you should take a look at.

Clyde Challenor MK1

Hello guys,

Today is a very exciting day because i'm going to show you an awesome new custom knife, Clyde Challenor's MK1.



Clyde's an up and coming knifemaker from South Africa who is coming out with extremelly impressive quality knives.
He's getting a lot of notoriety on the forums because of his quality products but if you ever get the chance to interact with him you'll quickly see that he's top notch also.
Unlike other knifemakers, Clyde is very friendly and communicative so don't be afraid to contact him.
Ok, enough of this ass kissing and let's get on with this :)

Here is the beauty:

This linerlock features a 3" RWL34 blade, orange G-10 bolsters, carbon fibre handle, blue anodized titanium liners and carbon fiber backspacer.
Oh...and no pocket clip wich was a specific request of mine.
Looks awesome, doesn't it?
I chose this configuration.
That's another great thing about Clyde's, you can choose the materials and configuration so you can make it a more personal experience.
Once i saw a photo of the MK1 i contacted Clyde because i knew i wanted one.
The handle resembled my Burger EXK1 but the blade looked like something i really like, another SA influence, the Insingo with it's nice swedge and modded sheepsfoot blade.







The MK1 slices better than both and is a bit broader both in blade and handle.
You can see it here next to the EXK1.









Even though the handle is very similar to the EXK1, it is in fact more robust so a bit heavier but with a very nice feel.
The knife is very comfortable and substancial in hand making it great to work with.









I love it and it has been my EDC since i got it.
I don't follow the recent trend of overbuilt knives so i asked Clyde to build me a slicer and he really came through.
I don't know the measurements but it is very thin behind the edge, much like my Warlock.

This also has lip mechanism/front flipper like my other SA customs and it works flawlessly.

I believe it's my favourite mech to date.
It doesn't get in the way when cutting or penetrating, sharpening and it's very convenient.
You can open the knife in a controlled manner or lightening quick with both the thumb or index finger.
If you live in a country where one hand opening is illegal then this could also be a great choice because you have enough blade sticking out to use both hands.

Looks great, cuts great, and the maker is top notch too.
What more can you ask for? :)

Announcement!

Hello guys,

Lately i've been getting a lot more followers on my facebook page and i've noticed that most are from people outside Portugal.
To be quite honest i started this blog in portuguese to stir things up a bit in my country as far as cutlery is concerned but the feedback was always minimal.
So i decided to change things a bit and start doing it in english.
I know you can translate it but it's never very accurate so english will be the language from now on.
A few new things will be reviewed in the next few days, or even maybe today :), so keep an eye on the blog.

EDC - Atualização

Boas pessoal,

Após algum tempo sem dar notícias resolvi fazer uma atualização do meu EDC.

A verdade é que não tenho feito muitas compras e a falta de feedback da vossa parte faz com que perca um pouco o interesse.

A vida levou uma volta e o tempo já não é tanto, no entanto, tenho usado as minhas amigas afiadas mais do que nunca.

Nos dias de hoje apenas tenho duas navalhas para EDC!

Sim, duas, a minha Burger EXK1...

 e a Gareth Bull Warlock pequena.

Adoro o mecanismo de abertura mas o facto de pesarem menos de 80g faz com que tenham ficado comigo.

A Warlock é também muito difícil de conseguir encontrar por isso vai ser preciso uma proposta muito louca para esta deixar as minhas mãos.

Estas duas acompanham-me todos os dias. 

Por vezes, uso a mesma durante semanas sem rotação.

Apesar de as navalhas já serem vossas conhecidas algo mudou na forma de as transportar.

Eu sou grande apologista de bainhas mas agora já não as levo no bolso mas sim no cinto.

A minha bainha Benchmade é a que mais uso visto o seu tamanho ser ideal para as navalhas mas tive que a alterar.

A presilha desta bainha apenas a possibilita de ser usada na vertical o que, para mim, se torna desconfortável visto passar muito tempo sentado a conduzir. Assim magoa-me na barriga e na virilha por isso era urgente comprar uma que pudesse ser colocada no cinto na horizontal.

Ainda pensei em comprar uma nova mas optei pela forma mais barata de conseguir o resultado desejado.

O resultado foi este:

Com Super-Cola 3 colei duas tiras de velcro que faz com que seja possivel ajustar a bainha da forma que mais me convier.

Dois outros fatores importantes são o facto de estas tiras manterem a bainha bastante maleável mas também, contrariamente a outras bainhas horizontais de presilhas fixas, poder colocá-la com o cinto posto.

Ou seja, não é necessário tirar o cinto para o enfiar nas presilhas. 

Desta forma uso-a de forma muito confortável, de uma forma bastante discreta e de rápido acesso quando preciso de usar a navalha para o trabalho.
